Stolen RAM 1500 Recovered

A RAM 1500 (2022 model) that was stolen from outside a private residence in Stockholm was successfully located and recovered in January after rapid action involving a Spotguard tracking device and close cooperation with authorities.

The case highlights how modern vehicle tracking technology and fast response procedures can support stolen car recovery in Sweden.

The vehicle owner discovered early one morning that the pickup, which had been parked outside the home the night before, was gone. The theft was reported to the Swedish Police Authority at 05:00, after which the owner immediately contacted the alarm and monitoring center at GSFleet.

Rapid Vehicle Tracking Led to Stolen Car Recovery

The stolen vehicle was equipped with a Spotguard tracking device, installed on the recommendation of the insurance provider.

After receiving the alert, GSFleet initiated a tracking operation and established contact with the device. Updated positioning data was forwarded to the police without delay, enabling authorities to act quickly.

Using this information, officers were guided to a residential area approximately 30–40 kilometers north of the theft location, where the vehicle was located and seized.

Several Suspects Arrested at the Scene

During the operation, several individuals were apprehended in and around the stolen vehicle. A preliminary investigation is now underway.

According to investigators, the case may contribute to solving additional thefts involving similar high-value vehicles.

High-Value Vehicle Protected by Insurance and Tracking

The recovered RAM 1500 has an estimated value of approximately SEK 800,000 and is insured by Trygg-Hansa.

The case demonstrates the importance of combining comprehensive insurance coverage with a reliable GPS tracking device. When theft occurs, fast access to accurate location data can be decisive for successful recovery and reduced financial impact.

RAM Pickup Trucks and Car Theft in Sweden

While overall vehicle theft in Sweden has declined in recent years, high-value pickup trucks remain attractive targets for organized criminal networks.

In 2025, 51 RAM vehicles were reported stolen in Sweden*, highlighting the continued vulnerability of premium models.

Statistics from Larmtjänst also show that newer and more expensive vehicles are overrepresented among unrecovered theft cases, despite a general decline in reported incidents nationwide.

This means that owners of high-value vehicles face a higher risk of financial loss if adequate theft prevention measures are not in place.

The Role of Tracking Technology in Vehicle Recovery

The vehicle was equipped with a Spotguard tracking device, a battery-powered and insurance-approved solution designed to support theft recovery. The device enables continuous positioning, secure data transmission, and direct connection to a 24/7 alarm center, allowing location information to be shared quickly with authorities.

This case shows how early reporting, timely activation of tracking, and close coordination with police can play an important role in recovering stolen vehicles. For private car owners, especially those with newer or high-value models, reliable tracking technology can significantly increase the chances of successful recovery and reduce financial loss.

By combining professional vehicle tracking solutions with insurance requirements and fast response procedures, GSFleet helps private car owners across Sweden and the Nordic region reduce theft risks and improve recovery outcomes.
