Tracking technology in the stolen car led police to a container, where another stolen car of the same type was found.<\/p>\n\n
– This is a very good day for us. When our tracking technology can lead to more stolen items being found. The thieves probably didn’t expect this,” says Per Waldemar Simonsen, Division Manager for Fleet and Asset Tracking at GSGroup. <\/p>\n\n
It was in Bromma that a woman went out into her courtyard on a Sunday morning and discovered that her car, a Range Rover Sport, was gone. <\/p>\n\n
– You hardly believe it at first. One’s own car, stolen after being parked along the house wall, that’s daring, says Simonsen. But unfortunately we see that this is not a one-off. <\/p>\n\n
Theft is a reality. The car is gone and only pieces of broken glass and wheel marks remain. <\/p>\n\n
The car has the Spotguard tracking device fitted. After gathering her thoughts, the woman contacts both the police and GSGroup’s emergency line. <\/p>\n\n
– We immediately start searching for the stolen car and after a short while we get the first signals from the tracking unit, says Simonsen. <\/p>\n\n
The first signals indicate that the car is south of Stockholm, but it will prove to be a demanding operation for the team. <\/p>\n\n
– Our tracking devices can be put into so-called “tracking mode” in case of theft. This means they send signals back to us more often. We are basically saying to the system: “Let’s try to find you, tell us where you are”. The stronger the signals, the better. <\/p>\n\n
The signals emitted by this tracker are weak and more difficult to interpret than normal. There may be several reasons for this. Jamming is a known problem, but criminals are good at trying to disrupt and destroy signals transmitted by other means. <\/p>\n\n
Here, however, GSGroup’s proprietary technology, consisting of 3 different positioning techniques, and more than 30 years of experience in tracking, as well as an incredibly good cooperation with the police, comes into its own. <\/p>\n\n
– The signals from the tracking device in the stolen car are eventually localized to a container placed in the forest of a recreational area south of Stockholm. <\/p>\n\n
The police receive the information and arrive at the scene. When they open the container, it turns out that it contains not only our client’s stolen Range Rover, but also another Range Rover – which also turns out to be stolen. <\/p>\n\n
Both cars, of 2015 and 2016 respectively, have a total value of approximately SEK 757,500 and both cars were insured by Folksam. <\/p>\n\n
– It feels good when our technology and skilled and dedicated staff once again succeed in recovering stolen items.
