A BMW M2 stolen overnight from a shared parking garage in T\u00e4by was located, guarded and handed over to the police the same day. What made the difference was a battery powered tracker fitted just one month earlier, an alarm centre staffed around the clock, and a fast handover between GSFleet, Larmtj\u00e4nst and the police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A car gone without a trace<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Early in the morning, the owner came down to the shared parking garage and found his BMW M2 missing. The car, a 2017 model, is valued at approximately SEK 450,000 and insured with Trygg-Hansa<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What the thieves did not know was that one month earlier the owner had installed Spotguard<\/a> from GSFleet. Spotguard is a battery powered tracking unit that combines GPS, GSM and radio technology, three independent ways of establishing where a vehicle is, which makes it far harder to defeat than a single signal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police report first, then the alarm centre<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The owner filed a police report immediately and then called GSFleet\u2019s alarm centre. Using Spotguard, the operators established the car\u2019s position quickly and with high precision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GSFleet then activated its cooperation with Larmtj\u00e4nst<\/a>, the security organisation of the Swedish insurance industry. Larmtj\u00e4nst staff drove to the most recently registered position and found the car parked in a shared residential car park, 42 kilometres south of the garage it had been taken from. They kept the vehicle under observation on site until the police arrived and secured it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recovered with no visible damage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Shortly afterwards, GSFleet was able to call the owner with the good news. The car had been found, and on first inspection it showed no visible damage. Less than a day after it disappeared, a car worth close to half a million SEK was back in safe hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
